Melbury Vale Christmas Trees

In 2004, the first test crop of Christmas Trees were planted.

The crop has been added to by 1,000 trees per annum, until a full rotational crop is in place. Sadly, the 2006 crop was lost and so in 2007 we planted 2,000 Christmas Trees to get our rotation programme back up to speed. Each year we plant another 1,000 trees. To do this we enlist the help of volunteer planters, in return for food, drink, fresh air and some fun, to help make planting happen in one day!

Planting is usually in March, if you would like to help, get in touch with us and find out more, all you need are wellies, a spade and enthusiasm!

Melbury Vale is a 28 acre private, specialist farm, with a Christmas tree plantation, vineyard planted in 2006, ancient bluebell wood, English native woodland planted in 2005, hayfields and an alpaca herd. The farm is available for your leisure use during your stay. Please refer to the home page for more information on each of the areas.

There are plenty of places to visit and enjoy nearby, particularly for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists, some of these are detailed with links on the home page.

2004 sind die ersten Test Weihnachtsbäume Versuchsweise gepflanzt worden.

Die erste Ernte war addiert auf 1000 Bäume pro Quartal, damit die Ernte in Rotation gelangt. Leider war in 2006 die Ernte verloren und so wurden 2000 Weihnachtsbäume in 2007 neu gepflanzt, um das Rotationsprogramm wieder zum laufen zu bringen. 2008 haben wir weitere 1000 Bäume gepflanzt und um auch dieses an einen Tag zu schaffen, hatten wir wieder unsere altbewährten Freiwilligen, als Pflanzhelfer, welche im Gegenzug viel Essen, Getränke, frische Luft und Spaß erhielten.

Pflanzzeit ist normalerweise im März, sollten auch Sie Lust daran haben zu helfen, nehmen Sie bitte mit uns Kontakt auf und finden mehr darüber heraus. Alles was Sie benötigen, sind ein paar Gummistiefel, eine Schaufel und Begeisterung an der Sache.

Melbury Vale ist eine 28 Hektar große private, spezialisierte Farm. Es gibt Weihnachtsbäumen, neu gepflanzte Weinberge von 2006,antikes "Bluebell" Holz, neu gepflanzte, englische, native Holzbäume von 2005, Heufelder und "Alpaka" Herden.
